Samsung Digital Photo Frame 2009-09-12 |
| By Steven E. Hodges |
| This was so easy to set up and use. I gave this as a gift to my Mom and she loves it. I highly recommend this product. |
Worst experience ever 2009-06-21 |
| By M. Murawski |
| I have purchased this item as a gift for someone. I was going to load up a bunch of pictures and then send it as a gift. The setup was anything but simple. It took me hours to get it to work with my reasonably new Dell laptop (and I would consider myself an advanced PC user). All my USB devices work just fine... except for this one! I was so frustrated that I was ready to put it back in the box and return it. Samsung.com website was not helpful and the manual has 2 pages that are in English. |
Not Mac Compatible - Zero Directions 2009-06-19 |
| By Rhapado Quick Reference Guides |
| As mentioned by other reviewers, this product has no directions at all. Just a schematic and brief description of the buttons. Hooked it up to the Mac to transfer pictures, moved some pictures over and now neither the Mac nor the PC will recognize the frame. Nothing on the box or directions mentions anything about compatibility. This was $50 right down the drain. I've been happy with Samsung products in the past but I'll definitely rethink them in the future. The user manual is really a cheap disgrace and demonstrates a total disregard for the consumer. |
Samsung photo frame 2009-06-17 |
| By Rebecca J. Watts (Harrisburg, PA) |
| Photo frame came brand new and in excellent condition. Would suggest this product to others. |
Cheap, clunky, technically inferior. Very disappointing. 2009-06-17 |
| By B. Isman (New York, NY) |
I'm a professional photographer and I use Digital Frames for my clients. I ordered the Samsung because of its brand name and because of the nice price value. But when it arrived, the value was minimal. The frame looks cheap - its construction is flimsy and clunky, and feels like cheap plastic to the touch. Its operation is the same - clumsy - you need an AC cable AND an adaptor to make the thing work, and although they're both supplied with the frame, it's too much trouble to just turn the thing on. You've got to attach the frame leg before you can operate it at all, otherwise it wouldn't stand straight. And the leg is not very sterdy too...
When it did turn on, it took a few tries and a few failures to get the pictures uploaded, even though I followed the instructions, which were vague and poorly written, and did exactly what I was supposed to.
This is not the first time I'm doing stuff like that, and I'm fairly knowledgeable when it comes to portable digital media. I still couldn't figure it out.
When I called the Samsung Customer Service, it took 4 attempts to get to the right person (twice I got hung up on, and twice I was transferred to the wrong department). When I finally got someone to talk to me, they were unknowledgeable and totally arrogant and unhelpful.
I finally managed to get the pictures uploaded by myself (but it required to format the frame's hard drive and re-launch it), and then I found out that even with the various "re-size image" options that the frame comes with, the pictures get distorted to force them to match the wide screen format of the frame. The screen resolution actually was good - the images looked sharp and clear, but totally distorted, in every which way. It's really not a smart idea to make the frame a wide screen format...
The pictures uploaded fine when on a drive stick or key drive . But when you buy a frame with an internal memory, you want to be able to use it.
I ended up returning the frame and bought a different brand instead.
In summary - it's a cheap frame, and it behaves and feels like one. If you want something easier to manage and better quality, go with something else.
